Valentines Day Heart Cake

Our cake is a heart shaped cake ad has strawberry flavoring in two of the cake layers and the third layer is vanilla. All of our icing is just regular vanilla, and our second layer of icing is pink. Our crumb coat and middle layers of icing is white vanilla icing and so is our decorations. For the decorations we did a double shell border on the top and the bottom. we have multiple droops on the sides of the cake that have one smaller than the other. Between each droop there's a flower with a sprinkle pearl in the middle of each. At the very top of the cake, we made three pink flowers with a sprinkle pearl in the middle of each and green leaves pointing out of the flowers.

This is a photo of our cake after doing the double shell borders. During this first step of decorating, we made a bit of mistakes so the cake isn't as smooth as we would have liked it, but we still liked the end result.

This is one of our first photos we edited it to make it look a bit warmer. I feel like in this photo there isn't as much focus on the cake as I would like.

Reflection

I really like how our cake turned out, the flavors were good, the colors were good, and the decorations ended up better than I thought they were going to. The only thing I wish we did better was the smoothing out of the icing, due to all the mistakes with the droops it made a lot of rough patches in the cake that I tried to fix but couldn't. Another thing I wish we did better was our droops, some turned out nice and some turned out a little wonky. But overall, I enjoyed making this cake and I think it turned out really nice for not a lot of practice in cake decorating.
